Apparently Someone Listens When I Talk. Sort Of.

Brace yourselves for at least a moderate dose of good news, kiddies, because while there’s going to be a sequel to Rob Zombie’s execrable Halloween title, it will NOT involve Rob Zombie.

This round of Halloween will be directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who were apparently attached to direct the remake of Hellraiser.  While that one’s sort of up in the air right now, at least last time I heard any news about it, I find it interesting that they’re moving on.  Sort of cements the concept that the Hellraiser remake is tanking a bit.

Meanwhile, there’s some bad news involved as Maury and Bustillo assert that they “will honor what Zombie did with his remake and try and continue the story in the world that he built.”  Which is the biggest mistake they could have made, but hey.

Frankly, Maury and Bustillo would do a lot better to trash that miserable wreck that took the personification of Druidic evil Michael Myers and turned him into some kind of redneck trailer-trash basket case.  Michael Myers is NOT white trash!  Michael Myers was born to some kind of Druidic cult and had absolute evil invested in him from an early age.  Any departure from that is departure from the original Carpenter canon and an insult to fans of the original.

I’m baffled, just baffled, at how people who enjoyed the original canon of remake targets can enjoy remakes that so clearly spit on the canon that created them.  Do you enjoy stories of children killing their parents, too?  Can’t get enough of a gang of puppies eating their mother alive?  This is the exact same thing on a metaphorical level, and why we support raging disrespect against canon is thoroughly beyond me.
