Are you ready for some Favre-ball?

The football world has been caught up in a Brett Favre frenzy as of late, and just when it finally seemed like it was over, it appears to have only just begun. No one even seems to remember that the Giants won the Super Bowl last year or that the Patriots almost had a perfect season. Eli Manning is no longer the quarterback people think of when they hear about New York football.

A few days ago the Associated Press actually wrote a full-length article about Favre running a penalty lap for fumbling a snap at training camp. Is this actually news? Who else has had to run penalty laps this pre-season? I sure haven’t heard about it…

Over 15,000 people have viewed the penalty lap on Youtube while a few 1,000 were on hand to witness it. Favre’s new Jets jersey is selling at an unprecedented level.

I personally am sick of hearing about this guy, yet, for some odd reason, I felt compelled to pull my 11-year-old #4 Packers jersey out of my closet and wear it for the first time in years. It sure was an experience to wear it in public.

After numerous people commented on it I could not grasp who was a Packers fan and who was a Jets fan. But one things for sure, there are many Favre fans out there and not so many Aaron Rodgers fans.

Rodgers, starting for the Packers on Monday night against the Bengals, had a visually impressive performance completing 9 out of 15 passes for 117 yards. Although he did throw one interception, he looked brilliant completing a 30-yard touchdown to James Jones.

Rodgers may just have what it takes to lead his team to the playoffs. On the other hand, Favre may not have what it takes to make it to the playoffs, aka a good team.

Hey, the guys a legend. And let’s face it: the Jets have been a bit bland for a while now. Favre brings a little flavor to the oatmeal. And if the old guy can’t charge up the Jet engine, well, we’ll have fun hoping for a while, at least. Meanwhile, there’s Eli. Should be a fun season for those of us in the New York Metropolitan area!

You guys sure got it better than us over here on the left coast in the S.F. Bay Area, our teams are no bueno!
