Celebrity Bloggers: Punch Up Your Site With Widgets!

Celebrity-centric blogs fill a gigantic hole in our society: we are hungry for up-to-the-minute updates about our favorite idols in music, film, television, and sports. It keeps us entertained, makes us feel good about ourselves, and ensures that we have something to discuss over the water cooler or the dinner table. As a celebrity blogger, you couldn’t be in a better business. There’s just one problem: there are too many other blogs vying for your readers’ attention.

As you are no doubt aware, competition is fierce. The only way to get ahead is to offer something that other blogs can’t; given the sheer numbers you’re up against, this can be difficult. With entertainment giants like TMZ always on the front lines, it takes a lot to be the first to break a story. And even if you have a witty, unique voice, you’re probably looking for more ways to keep your users coming back. So what can you do?

While there’s no magic formula that works for everyone, Kwanzoo would like to humbly present you with something we think you’ll really enjoy. And your readers? They’ll enjoy it too.

Check this out:

Cute, right? Don’t be fooled by its innocent looks. This little widget can become a powerful tool to drive reader engagement and encourage readers to stick around, comment, and keep coming back. Because it’s a quiz. And a quiz is a challenge. Who can resist that?

Of course, the quiz has to be about something that people are interested in. But that’s not hard - if you writing an article about Ben Affleck, you’ve already got Ben Affleck fans checking in, and you know it. So you do this:

You might know Ben Affleck from Good Will Hunting and Gigli, but did you know that he supports gun rights? Although he’s historically campaigned for and supported Democratic candidates, Affleck is no fan of increased gun control and believes strongly in the right to keep and bear arms. He’s also said that President Bush “is a patriot….I happen to disagree with most of his policies, but I respect the man.” Look out, Ben…if you’re going to keep up those views, you’re in an unfriendly town!

But let’s not be too literalist. What else are Ben Affleck fans interested in? Maybe…Casey Affleck. Gone Baby Gone. Or even Kevin Smith, the man who helped propel Affleck and his buddy Matt Damon to fame. And with Kwanzoo, you can quickly and easily create a quiz widget on any of these topics, using our extensive bank of trivia questions. Customize the topic, the title, the color, the size…anything you like. While our smaller widgets are perfect for a sidebar, in the body of your blog you might want to include this big boy:

And it’s easy. Trust me, if you designed a Geocities page back in the day or are currently able to customize the colors on your blog, then this will be a piece of cake.

All it takes is a free account on Kwanzoo. In our widget gallery, you’ll find some premade widgets that feature new daily questions in different topics (celebrities, sports, etc.), a seasonal or topical widget, plus the ability to create your own from scratch.

And it gets better. Although most of our questions were written by our own team of trivia experts, we also feature user-created trivia. And that means YOU can create a 100% custom widget with your own questions! While we edit for content and quality, any blogger should be able to drum up some good questions that make the moderator’s job much easier. Plug them into our system, then check back in a few days. Hey presto! Your own custom questions for your own custom widget!

Say you want to write all about Joaquin Phoenix, but for some reason he hasn’t made it onto our site yet. Your job is simple: create five multiple-choice questions and submit them to us through the “My Trivia” tab on the site. Within a few days, you will be able to do this:

So they say Joaquin Phoenix has quit acting. Isn’t that kind of like when fifteen-year-old nerds declare that they’re going to become celibate? I think we can all agree that he hasn’t turned out anything worth watching in the last five years, with the possible except of Walk the Line. Whatever happened to the fun and edgy Joaquin of yore, who starred in awesome indie hits like Quills, To Die For, and Clay Pigeons? Today’s Phoenix is welcome to retire, just so long as he brings mid-90s Phoenix back to take his place.

See? It’s as easy as 1, 2, snark.

And I’ve barely scratched the surface of what Kwanzoo widgets can do. We’re working on an ad version that could bring in revenue for some bloggers who are interested in a partnership, the first incarnation of which is now available on the Glam Media blog network. Also in the wings are personality quizzes, which will allow users to discover their perfect celebrity boyfriend, or what member of Fall Out Boy they most resemble. And best of all: soon, those who wish to create custom widgets with their own questions will soon be able to bypass our moderation queue entirely, simply using our widget design to host their own content.

You can’t go wrong with Kwanzoo widgets!
