Dead Like Me Back From The Grave–Temporarily

Okay, I’m really, REALLY happy about this, especially since I was so spectacularly fond of the show Dead Like Me back when it was on Showtime, which as you know is the home of stuff like Dexter now.  You can generally count on premium cable to put out good TV because they don’t have to kiss the FCC’s egomaniacal ass.

And as a result, we’ve got a sweet new piece of Dead Like Me that we can all enjoy.

If you’re missing the ol’ DEAD LIKE ME crew as much as I am, you’re going to be excited to hear that MGM will be release Dead Like Me: Life After Death (trailer), the made-for-DVD movie of the Showtime series on February 17. Also arriving the same day is the COMPLETE COLLECTION, featuring both season and the feature film. In the feature, when Calvin Kane, a slick businessman who couldn’t care less about helping the newly dead, takes over Rube’s Head Reaper duties, all hell breaks loose, bringing out the worst in Daisy, Roxy, and Mason. George, however, is determined to set her latest, botched reap right, especially because the boy who was supposed to die, Hudson Hart, is her little sister Reggie’s secret boyfriend. In the process, George and Reggie re-connect for real, for the first time.

Now tell me that’s not the entire awesome cake covered in awesome sauce.  The only way this can get better is if they finally answer all those loose ends they left behind about the Gravelings and the destiny of a Reaper and suchlike.  All this new addition is all right, especially since they couldn’t get the original Rube back, but I’d rather them finally fix the problems they left behind.

Dead Like Me was an awesome show, as far as I was concerned.  It was funny, and there was some drama involved, and it was very, very occasionally just a bit scary.  I wanted to know where these Gravelings came from, what happened to Reapers, why a Reaper was chosen from anyone else.  Right now I want to know how Rube quit, because last I knew, Reapers don’t quit.  They just get advanced to the afterlife at some point.

But regardless, I will definitely be looking for this to hit shelves.
