E3: Mirror’s Edge, Fallout 3 and Ghostbusters

All right, here we go. There’s a Mirror’s Edge video up at Kotaku. The quality’s not so good, but it’s the first thing I’ve been able to find, and it serves its purpose of showing that the previous demos weren’t doctored.

The game looks technically flawless, save for the totalitarian agent pigdogs having a serious case of the stormtrooper aim. Still, you have to wonder, will the game be an excellent parkour simulator without much else to do in it, kind of like Assassin’s Creed? I may need a little more convincing before E3 is out.

If Mirror’s Edge is so far not quite the joygasm I was hoping for, I’m finding myself unexpectedly impressed by Fallout 3.

The official E3 trailer is up at the Bethesda site, but the real meat is in this G4 interview

Around eight minutes in, the player starts firing stuffed teddy bears out of a makeshift rocket launcher. There’s plenty of other good stuff in there, but why even mention it when you can fire stuffed teddy bears out of a makeshift rocket launcher. Why doesn’t every game have this feature?

Finally, right smack dab in the middle of what I expected is Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Enjoy.

Bonus content: An interview with Ernie Hudson on promoting the Ghostbusters game.

He’s giving a talk at the London MCM Expo, where he’s come to promote the new Ghostbusters game. But by his own admission, Hudson was not top choice for the job. “In the scheme of people who they go to, I’m like, the last guy,” he tells the audience. “They assume I need the money. Which is true.”
