It’s the weekend, and we wanted to share a few of the details on how Search works as you play social trivia games on Kwanzoo. You’ve probably seen the Search box right on top. Kwanzoo lets you search on all of the categories that we support, viz: movie, TV show, actor, actress, director, character and other. Search will pull results for you for all trivia topics that contain the text that you type in. Try typing “Frat” and you will get: Frat Pack and Lothney “Sloth” Fratelli!
We all sometimes mis-spell the word or topic name we want to search on. Try typing Caribean instead of Caribbean in the search box (say you want to play on Pirates of the Caribbean). Surprise! The search comes back with the correct results! This works on Kwanzoo as we have built in support for Aliases.
What Are Aliases? Why should I Care?
Aliases are different forms of the same topic. We figured out that many popular topics have common mis-spellings (Sienfeld for Seinfeld?). We have captured several of those mis-spellings and tied them to the correct topic. We call these Aliases.
So typing Scorcese will still get you to Martin Scorsese! This becomes quite important when we open up the site to allow you all to submit trivia. If we did not tie up topics that were really one and the same, together, you would suddenly find your question not being found during search by other Players! And then nobody would play on your question, because we did not alert you while you were creating the question, and had you tag the question with the right topics!
Have you tried a search lately that has stumped you? Did we not catch a mis-spelling and direct you to the topic which was already available to play? Let us know.
