Log in to WoW today and get a free bear.
To celebrate the fourth anniversary of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is giving everyone a present.
“Sure, the 4th anniversary present is traditionally ‘flowers’” says the in-game mail. “…but in WoW, it’s ‘bear’.”
It’s not the riding bear with goggles. you’ll still have to buy that yourself. This is a non-combat baby polar bear. Daawwww.
All you have to do is log in sometime today, Nov. 23rd. You’ll see an achievement pop up for “WoW’s 4th Anniversary” and your bear will show up in your mailbox. It’s account-bound, so you can mail it back and forth between your characters for as many bears as you want. Between this and Obama’s FCC transition co-chair being outed as a player, I expect to see World of Warcraft moved to the top of the Colbert Report Threatdown by Monday.
It’s kind of interesting that nobody knew about this ahead of time. Most events in WoW get data-mined out of the client well before they ever actually go live. I guess Blizzard has the ability to keep a few things up their sleeve.
