Ah, Mark Wahlberg. Sure have come a long way since Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, haven’t you? Oh yeah…Vince Papale in Invincible, Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights, and now, amazingly enough, you’re actually tasked to a film with none other than Peter Jackson—The Lovely Bones. And yet, you also took a turn around the conspiracy theory circuit as sniper extraordinaire Bob Lee Swagger in Shooter, a film of surprising depth in the midst of its gunplay.

Us moviegoers may not know that the shooting in Shooter was at least partially Wahlberg’s own chops on display—after training at the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute as preparation for the role, Wahlberg was actually able to hit a target at two thousand yards.

Which will undoubtedly come in handy down the line; Wahlberg is actually slated to play the titular character in Max Payne, the adaptation of the video game of the same name, and also has been approached about reprising his role in a sequel to The Departed.
