Netflix and Microsoft Form Alliance–Darth Gates Unreachable For Comment

Okay, so Bill Gates hasn’t technically been in charge of Microsoft for a while now–think of him as kind of like a Dooku sort of character and you’ll get the idea.  But anyway–it’s quite true…Netflix and Microsoft have come together to offer the various movies available for download on Netflix through Xbox Live.

The practice is simple enough–just go to Netflix.com and put various downloadable content titles into your queue, then those choices will be reflected as available for download from Xbox Live Marketplace.  In something of a crass move, only Xbox Live Gold Members will be allowed to pause, rewind, or fast-forward downloaded titles.

This move, naturally, serves to broaden the availability of downloadable content and get more people watching movies via Netflix and Xbox Live Marketplace, while also serving the all-important and regularly harped-on function of jamming yet another nail into the coffin of traditional theatres.  Thusly I’m in favor of it.  I’m eagerly awaiting an era in which theatres offer fantastic options to become a full experience rather than just showing movies and offering a handful of overpriced snacks.  There are lots of options, and I can hardly wait to see which ones the theatres try.  Not to mention the possibility that they can come up with new ones.

Eagerly. Seriously.

But at any rate, the comedy movie trivia on Kwanzoo is available no matter where you go or what era it is.
