Pixar’s Next Movie: My Jaw Is On The Floor
So I saw the teaser trailer for Pixar’s next movie, coming out this May, and I’m just absolutely floored.
Oh, sure, I’ve been floored by Pixar before. And frankly, I have yet to see a bad Pixar movie. But watching the trailer for this one was a little something special. Follow the link to it here. The synopsis is taken from the link in case you’ve got a slow connection:
“Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life. Up takes audiences on a thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures”
Tell me that’s not awesome. Tell me this guy finally taking life by the horns and doing what he’s always wanted to do isn’t just amazing. Yes, the plot by itself is downright inspirational–you’re never too old. it’s never too late to follow your passion. Dreams can come true with sufficient work and struggle. All of these are great themes, and frankly, they’re fairly well Pixar standard.
Looking at the sheer amount of innovation involved too is a Pixar standard. How many people you know turn their houses into airships?
I’ll be honest–I’m looking forward to May like no tomorrow. Pixar is always good. More accurately, Pixar has yet to do a BAD movie. Yes, I found Wall-E to be unnecessarily heavy handed with its messages but even then it was still entertaining. It was still a good movie, even if it was probably the worst movie Pixar ever did. Pixar ducks the trend in Hollywood of sequels and remakes like no tomorrow, and instead offers up constant originality and constant innovation. This alone gives Pixar an unsettlingly large amount of good faith and credit–when everyone else is serving up the same old slop, isn’t it great to know that someone’s out there always trying something new? The next Pixar movie is one to wait for, even if you don’t know exactly what it is or what it’ll be about!
By the looks of upcoming title Up, it’ll be great. Just like the others.
