Video Game Trivia: EDF! EDF!

edf.jpgWhat if ten thousand giant insects invaded Earth one day? Ants the size of a school bus closing in from every angle. An unholy nest overflowing with gargantuan spiders, eagerly spinning their poisonous webs all over your town. And all you have is a state-of-the-art rocket launcher with unlimited ammo.

Imagine that Cerberus had seven butts instead of heads and a mere video game relished in slowly, methodically kicking every one of them. That is Earth Defense Force 2017.

EDF is one of the most simple yet enjoyable games ever made. Whether you are in a limitless city with fully destructible buildings, on a desolate beach watching the sun set or in a dank cave a mile below the earth, your goal is to annihilate the threat from giant alien insects. With a cache of over 100 weapons and the courage of a man trying to avoid his death bed at all costs, it’s your job to save the world.

It’s a ridiculous concept that works because of two things – no one likes insects and every game is magically better with a second player. Through the power of co-op, EDF is able to offer an experience that rivals the most expensive, over-hyped games in the industry at a budget price.

Think you know who’s who in the world of giant bugs? Know the difference between an Acid Shot and Acid Sprayer? Test your hand at Earth Defense Force trivia. You wouldn’t want the human race to be enslaved by repulsive aliens, would you?
