Seriously, if you’ve got any interest at all in a big-screen plasma TV, the time is ripe.

The horrific economy is dragging retail sales figures into a slump, and as such, the vendors are ready to make a deal. It’s a buyer’s market, and even these days, there are some buyers ready to go.

With retailers aggressively pricing high-definition television sets, shipments of plasma-screen TVs grew 18 percent in the third quarter from the previous quarter, while the year-to-year total rose 37 percent, according to a study by DisplaySearch and reported today (Friday) by TV Week. Forty-two-inch sets represented 49 percent of all sets sold, while 50-inch sets accounted for 29 percent of all units shipped.

Recently I saw this news bite on CNN where EVERY major retailer except Wal-Mart reported down sales figures and even Wal-Mart’s gains were only just above loss at a paltry two percent, so you know how bad things are.  When not even Wal-Mart can get ahead by much, you know things are a catastrophe in action.

Circuit City’s planning to close hundreds of stores nationwide, and if there’s one near you, you may well be able to get in on something great.

Okay, sure…you’re basically picking the bones of massive retail conglomerates, but bear in mind these are the folks who used to charge us sixteen bucks for a CD.  Yes, yes, I know–that had plenty to do with reccording studio companies and other entities but it’s not like they put up anything resembling a fight on our behalf, either.

A little bit of justice?  Possibly.  But all I know is that action movies look great on a big-screen plasma, and now’s the time to get one!
