A lot of celebrities have a dirty secret. No, it’s not heroin. Everybody knows about that already. It’s not their backgrounds in nudity-laden “art” films, or their time in prison for boosting that car. Nope, none of that.
It’s in their pores.
You see, a lot of celebrities have bad skin. Some of them are born with it. Others put undue stress on their overall health with constant weight yo-yoing and strange diets that leave them thin, but nutritionally deprived.
It’s pretty karmic, if you think about it. So many celebrities seem so attractive in magazine shoots, but it’s just not fair! Don’t worry, they have their own crosses to bear. And few of them will admit it, except for when Jessica Simpson’s favorite acne treatment, Proactiv, decides to fork out the dough.
Whether it’s too oily or too dry, celebrity skin is plagued with problems. At least once a month, one of the typical newsstand rags will publish a cover-story exposé on how bad everyone looks without their makeup. Hey, no duh.
For years, entertainment personalities have been able to hide their blemishes. But the times, they are a changin’.
By next year, many households in the U.S. will have switched over entirely to digital high definition TVs, to assure that they keep receiving television broadcasts uninterrupted. (Yes, it’s possible to get a non-HD digital T.V. that will work, but who wants to bother?)
Of course, it’s entirely possible that makeup will advance along with high-def technology. But this could be the equivalent of the switchover to talkies – will certain celebs duck under the radar as our viewing equipment gets better and better at detecting their flaws?
I’d like to think that we, as a nation, are not that shallow.
But I’m pretty sure we are.
