“24″ TV Movie: Beep, beep. Beep, beep…
As the writer’s strike waned to a close, television fans got the first news of what might happen to their favorite shows, most of which remain in limbo. One of the biggest victims was 24, which, due to its “real-time” nature, begs to be aired in one big block. To air only the part that’s been filmed so far is a cardinal sin in the eyes of the producers (and many fans), which means 24: Season 7 isn’t going to premiere until January of next year.
Yes, January of next year. No one is quite sure why they’re leaving themselves such a gigantic buffer, but fans have no choice but to wait. One possible explanation is that many of the cast members have been forced into other projects to make ends meet during the hiatus, and now have other obligations that necessitated a delay.
In the meantime, though, there’s a little something to tide us over. This fall, the 24 gang plans to release a two-hour television special that covers the gap between the end of Season 6 and the beginning of Season 7. A prequel to the events of the new season, it will reportedly deal with Jack being on trial for his actions (he’s such a rebel!) Filming should begin within the next few months.
Until then, of course, you can always cut your teeth on our 24 trivia. STAND DOWN!
