Age of Conan final impressions
Sometime around midnight last night, I thought to myself, “I don’t really care enough about any of the characters here to advance the plot, and the abilities I’m getting aren’t interesting enough to make me want to level up more.”
Those were two motivations for playing. so I’m pretty much done with Age of Conan. The account will be handed off to someone else who wants it.
No, it might not be giving the game a “fair” shake, but I just can’t afford to be sinking all that time into a game that might get more fun. There’s just too much else to do and play right now.
Gaming as a whole is an embarrassment of riches. Nobody in the house has even cracked open Okami for the Wii. I’ve yet to try the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer, despite owning it for months. The roommates bought new songs for Rock Band that we haven’t even tried. Disgaea 2 beckons me to finish it before the next installment comes out here, but fat chance of that. I’ve got Everyday Shooter sitting on my hard drive, waiting for me to play it more. My dwarves are constantly in need of tending and we’re trying to get a succession game going. And this isn’t even including all the new games I still want to try, like The World Ends With You or the Penny Arcade game.
More and more, I think MMOs are designed for the unemployed.

The Penny Arcade game is a solid lump of fantastic, which is amazing enough by itself. But dude, consider the alternative–after all, normally summer is a drought for games as they ramp up for Christmas. Now, it’s just nonstop glee.
I recommend trying to get to the highest level. MMORPGs don’t start until you reach that. The investment is high though, so I don’t know if I will be able to do it either.
