All Aboard the Pineapple Express

Isn’t James Franco weird?

The Pineapple ExpressI don’t mean weird like the guy who accosts women at the bus stop while holding up his pants with one hand, I mean weird like…eccentric. If you’ve seen Spider-Man 3 (don’t worry, you will heal) recall the pie scene. The “sooo good” scene. If you haven’t, just trust me, he’s weird.

And now, finally, he has a vehicle for his burgeoning insanity. The Pineapple Express, Judd Apatow’s newest project, features Franco and Seth Rogen (of course) as two stoners on the run from a drug lord. A rather amusing red band trailer has been leaked, featuring the kind of stoner humor that even “’straight folks,’ or ‘losers,’”, as Hyde from That ’70s Show would say, can appreciate.

Franco’s previous work with Apatow on the cult series Freaks and Geeks allowed Apatow to secure the increasingly popular actor, who is beginning to prove his versatility à la Brad Pitt in True Romance. Undoubtedly, this will be a nice career boost for Franco and just one more stop on the massively popular Apatow train.

All aboard!

  1. Franco? Weird? I don’t see it. The ’sooooooo good’ pie scene? I get that! Perhaps you didn’t? Harry thought it was ’sooooo good’ what he just did to his friend, Peter Parker by telling him that HE’s the ‘other guy’ MJ is seeing. I know, I know! You just wanted to SMACK HIM for saying that to Peter so smugly but that just shows you how Mr. Franco can go from Mr. Nice-Guy to crazy & back again - ALL IN ONE CHARACTER!! So I thought his turn playing Harry in SM3 was better than in the other 2.
    Of course, that’s JMO.

    WE LOVE YA, HARRY!!

  2. No, I got the significance of the line, but his delivery was just too bizarre. In a good way, sure, but bizaaaaaarre.
