No seriously… the best part is I’m not even kidding.  They’re actually planning to make a musical version of American Psycho.  For those of you who are currently unfamiliar with the plot line of American Psycho, it revolves around Patrick Bateman, a young, handsome, wealthy, what have you Wall Street investment banker in the go-go 80s in Manhattan.  Anyway, Bateman seems on the surface to be a normal self-absorbed materialist, which is standard practice for the 80s, but by night lives a second life outside of the investment firm where he is a brutal efficient killing machine.

How exactly this works into a musical is utterly beyond me.

Production critters behind the musical claim that there is a resurgence of 1980s music with such bands as Talking Heads and Genesis part of the original American Psycho book.  Since I grew up in the 1980s, I feel relatively qualified to say that I haven’t heard much 80s music lately.

Unless of course you look at lunchtime radio stations.

But, I digress.  Apparently, somebody thinks this is going to sell some tickets on Broadway, but I personally doubt it.
