Baroque–Underlining a Key Problem With the Wii
And before you ask, no, I will NOT use any cheap Wii puns–for instance, under no circumstances will I be calling it a “kii problem”–in this article for any purpose other than illustration. And with that, I launch into a discussion of Baroque, an RPG slated for the Wii and one other system.
I was deliberately evasive on that last point to build a little tension–for you see, Baroque will be coming out not only for the Wii…but also for the Playstation 2.
I look at this as a prime example of one of the Wii’s key problems. Look…we’re in next gen now. It’s about time games came with, you know, next-gen sound and graphics. Meanwhile, Wii graphics are so sub-par for the next-gen race that they’re on par with the last gen Sony system. And they’re deficient to such a degree that they can make ports of Wii games for a last-gen system.
Now, I’ll be honest. The Wii does indeed have a lot going for it, and I’m not alone in saying so as evidenced by the fact that you can’t actually find one for sale out there, and if you do, it’s snapped up within mere seconds. But in the spirit of honesty, the Wii does not have a lot of games that aren’t just giant mini-game collections, and even the best graphics of the Wii can scarcely compete with even mediocre graphics on a PS3 or an Xbox 360.
And Baroque is just further proof of that.
However, always solid on the gameplay is Kwanzoo trivia–try the role playing game trivia right here.
