Britney Spears: Sofa King We Todd Ed

At first glance, Britney Spears’ recently leaked single “If U Seek Amy” from the her upcoming album “Circus” might just seem like another awkwardly-titled pop song that no one will care about in six months. The lyrics seem to tell the story of…uh…well, who knows. I can’t really figure it out. See if you can interpret this:

Oh baby baby
Have you seen Amy tonight?
Is she in the bathroom
Is she smokin’ up outside
Oh

Oh baby baby
Does she take a piece of lime
For the drink that Imma buy her
Do you know just what she likes
Oh

Oh Oh
Tell me have you seen her
Because I’m so
Oh
I can’t get her off of my brain

Whatever. But the lyrics really take a turn for the nonsensical later in the song, which a lot of people didn’t bother questioning because hey, it’s Britney Spears. Who knows what’s going on in that head of hers her writer’s head?

Love me hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If You Seek Amy

Wait, what? That doesn’t even make…

If U Seek Amy.

Eff You See Kay Mee.

Ohhhhhhhhhh.

TMZ has sussed it out, complete with an audio clip that demonstrates how much it sounds like Brit is spelling out the F-word.

I have no idea if Britney is aware of this, although she probably is. I also have no idea if the censors (or the radio stations) will have a problem with it; this might be an interesting censorship battle in the next few moths when the single is officially released and seeking radio play.

I can’t wait to see what Brit’s official statements on this will be. I doubt it will become a huge scandal, as her target audience is no longer an average of 13 years old. (She even did the song “Touch of My Hand,” which is about exactly what you think it’s about, with minimal fuss a few years ago.) Let’s hope that whatever happens, it doesn’t end up being a giant leap backwards for free speech.

…whoa. Having a Matrix moment here. If she PLANNED it, it’s a devious masterstroke the likes of which I can’t believe Britney Spears could generate. If it’s an ACCIDENT, it’s just plain unbelievable. EIther way, it’s probably the most cerebral that Britney Spears has ever been…so kudos!
