The Wii and Nintendo DS will not have a price drop. I am sure everyone is shocked. You see, when a company makes a product that people love very much, but they can’t get one of their own because other, richer people also love it very much, the price does not need to be lowered. What could Nintendo possibly gain by reducing the Wii’s price to $200? If anything, it would just create more hatred and violence in an already desolate world. Can you imagine the Soccer Mom brawls that would spring up with a cheaper Wii on the market?

Why is this even news? Because analysts, the people who are paid to predict how profitable companies would be, vastly overrated how much money Nintendo would make in the coming fiscal year. Instead of admitting they they are once again wrong, they blamed the difference between their predictions and Nintendo’s with one horrible guess: price cut time. The president of Nintendo was forced to personally respond to this outrageous prediction.

If anything, Nintendo should raise the price of the Wii. They could include Mario Kart Wii and raise the price to $300. Or toss in a Balance Board and Wii Fit and charge $500! People would still buy it, why not?
