A real diversion coming up for Saw actor Costas Mandylor, the guy who handled acting duties for Detective Hoffman–he’s going the indie route.

Now this should come as a surprise to all concerned, being as everyone involved with the Saw franchise is basically booked solid straight through to hell as they’ll probably be doing Saw sequels until the day they keel over dead from starvation, overwork, or disgruntled horror buff accident.

But Costas Mandylor, despite the sheer crunch of the Saw industry’s schedule, will be appearing in The Cursed, a supernatural thriller set in Tennessee. Mandylor, playing Sheriff Jimmy Muldoon, is living a calm, nearly Mayberry existence with his brother and deputy Lloyd, until a stranger comes to town. A guy named Denny White comes to town, and all manner of hell breaks loose. With comparisons to Phantoms and Stephen King’s own It, it definitely sounds like it might be something entertaining.

At least it gives Costas Mandylor something to do besides Yet Another Saw.
