Cowboys look like the sharpshooter of the East

There are only 22 days left until the kickoff of the 2008 NFL season. Over the next few weeks I will examine all 32 teams with an analysis of each division.

The NFC East appears to be the strongest division this year. Although the New York Giants won the Super Bowl last year, I’m siding with the Dallas Cowboys to win the division for the second year in a row.

The Cowboys went 13-3 last season and picked up 7-time Pro Bowl selection Zach Thomas who figures to tie loose ends on the defensive side of the ball.

The Giants struggled miserably against the ’Boys in the regular season last year, and you can expect the same this year, especially since the Giants will be playing without Michael Strahan.

The Washington Redskins made the playoffs in 2007 despite losing 6 of 8 mid-season. They picked up Jason Taylor recently who should play well with Andre Carter on the Redskins defensive front.

The Philadelphia Eagles were a major disappointment last season but they were able to tally up 3 wins in a row to finish 8-8. They made no major transactions in the off-season, and I expect them to be a bigger disappointment this year.

Projected NFC East standings:
Dallas Cowboys 14-2
New York Giants 11-5
Washington Redskins 10-6
Philadelphia Eagles 6-10
