So we’re all aware of Darren Lynn Bousman and his crusade to see how many times he can flog a dead horse by releasing Saw movies at a rate of one every fifteen minutes. Well, maybe just annually, but that’s what it feels like sometimes. Anyway, he’s got the idea that just because he had one pretty big movie that turned into ten hojillion horrible sequels he can turn that talent elsewhere and lightning will once again strike.

I Can Feel My Head Exploding Already

Bousman’s newest target? Simple enough—he’s turning that onslaught of creative might and majesty to doing a remake.

A remake…of Scanners.

My skull is already pulsing and I’m not sure it’s because of psychic phenomena. I’ll spare you the ranting about how bad remakes generally turn out to be and how they take about as much creativity to make as what keeps showing up in my bathroom after a meal of bad burritos and how they’re generally just shameful cash grabs to express horror at the thought that Bousman, who without Saw has a career worse than that of, say, Joe Piscopo, is actually considered the best choice to helm a remake of a second-rate science fiction series that at least partially went direct to video anyway.

Do we have nothing better to do? Seriously, nothing? Surely somewhere there’s an actual good movie worth funding and putting on theater screens before stooping to this nobody from nowhere with no real career outside of a cheesy horror franchise that’s slowly degenerating into a pile of lawn clippings!

Excuse me while I sigh morosely.
