Director on Standby For 28 Months Later

Well, it’s official, sort of–if there is to be a 28 Months Later, and if the studio allows it, Danny Boyle is ready to direct it.

The former producer of 28 Weeks Later, and director of 28 Days Later, expressed his full and unconditional committment to the project thusly:

I’d certainly like to…I feel the idea is quite a strong idea, and it could well involve directing it. Yeah, absolutely.

Well jeepers, Danny…let’s not rush to judgment here.  Maybe you want to be a little MORE AMBIVALENT about it first.  Maybe you want to sit down and think it through.  Have some tea.  A biscuit.  Sail down the Clyde with Patrick Stewart.

Seriously, did they catch you by surprise?  Reading that is almost like watching you try to talk yourself into it.  And frankly, if you’ve got to talk yourself into it I really don’t WANT you to come back.  I want you here doing it because you want to handle it.  You want to make it better than the last two, which were good but starting to show signs of sequel lag. If you’re just here for a quick paycheck then get stuffed.

If you’re not up to the challenge, then walk, Danny Boy.  The pipes, the pipes are blowing way the hell away from 28 Months Later because I don’t want you handling it.
