You know…being the badass freelance entertainment journalist that I am has exposed me to a lot of strange and bizarre things. Kim Jong-Il’s filmography, for one. Going into it all would likely traumatize you if I did it all at once.

So let me just say that, man, this was a weird idea.

Apparently, in the casting for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, the current frontrunner to play Freddy Krueger is Lex Luthor.

No, seriously! Michael Rosenbaum, Lex Luthor of Smallville, has reportedly had lunch with Michael Bay and is at least on the short list to play Freddy Krueger!

I don’t know whether to laugh myself into a gentle coma or freak out and start kicking puppies. This is either stupid or brilliant and I can’t tell which! Oh, sure, Rosenbaum did at least a passable job playing subtle uber-villain Lex Luthor, but does that translate into the wisecracking, blade-fingered wonder? Can Rosenbaum successfully take over the house that Englund built?

Man, I don’t know. I really just don’t know. And the fact that I don’t know makes me excessively nervous.

But until we finally get the word on who’s taking over, we’ve got Nightmare on Elm Street trivia just waiting to be taken on on Kwanzoo.
