Dumb and Dumber: An Odder Couple You’ll Never See
Back in the dark dim depths of 1994, a new road-comedy / buddy picture emerged to the great delight of geeks and comedy lovers everywhere. Packing Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels into a vehicle that can only be described as bizarre on wheels, the duo played Lloyd and Harry, two guys who were just trying to get ahead in life, but were held back by their own crippling and mammoth stupidity. This was called Dumb and Dumber, and it made a whole lot of people laugh for better than fourteen years. It enjoys a cult following to this very day–which isn’t a surprise to me as I loved this movie–and grossed nearly three hundred million dollars worldwide, not to mention spawning both a sequel and a Saturday morning cartoon.
Yes, That Is Jeff Daniels Wailing and Screaming Whilst On A Toilet
Some of you might recognize Jeff Daniels as the somewhat pretentious voice of Michigan from the various MEDC commercials mentioned alongside his Purple Rose Theater, or from his independent films, or from his host of dramatic roles. But in Dumb and Dumber, you get a whole different side of Jeff Daniels, whether you want it or not. Notably, his backside.
And Of Course, Jim Carrey’s Here Too.
No one was terribly surprised that Jim Carrey had managed to throw his way into this one. Already well-known for his comic roles like Fire Marshall Bill in the “In Living Color” Fox series, it was a foregone conclusion that he would make a good fit here.

Or, Cheap and Cheaper: Making a Fast Buck Off a Great Movie
I can hear you moaning on this one already, and I don’t blame you in the least. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, was an insult to fans of the film, who voted resoundingly against it with their wallets. A prequel of sorts, it attempts to explain the origin behind friends Harry and Lloyd, and manages to insult us with Eugene Levy as a scheming vice principal and Cheri Oteri as his lunch lady cohort.
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels refused to have anything to do with it. Audiences reacted similarly.
And if you want to prove you’re neither Dumb nor Dumber when it comes to Dumb and Dumber movie trivia, come on over and try it out!
