Apparently, Bruce Campbell might’ve taken his status on last year’s Film Threat Frigid Fifty seriously.

The popular online film mag castigated Campbell for his relentless push into crap. But–and this is one J. Lo style but (oh, who can resist busting out the J. Lo cracks?)–there’s some evidence that Bruce might be getting ready to strap on the chainsaw and the metal hand and show a few uglies the door in Evil Dead 4.

A video review is now up on Entertainment Weekly, and it’s downright groovy.

Okay, sure…it’s not as though he’s talking shooting dates, but where the optimism kicks in is, generally, when Campbell’s asked about an Ash redux, he chuckles wryly and basically says, “Not this kid”.  But this one is a little different.  This one he doesn’t dismiss out of hand, but acknowledges there might be some room to talk, especially if Sam Raimi’s the man behind the camera.  Actually, ONLY if Sam Raimi’s the man behind the camera, but still.  The concept remains the same.  He is OPEN to the concept for the first time in a long time.

And that may have something to do with the sheer unabashed fact that his career right now is a spectacular steaming pantload.  Burn Notice, as intrepid TV reporter Liz mentioned, isn’t exactly living up to its flammable nomenclature and is, basically, about as hot as liquid helium.  Which is to say, not very.  For those of you who aren’t science wonks, helium exists at a liquid around about one kelvin.

And that is cold.  But only slightly colder than Bruce Campbell’s career.
