Fallout 3 Q&A

There’s a fan interview up with the developers of Fallout 3.

Fallout is a cult-favorite RPG set in a post-nuclear-apocalypse world, known for being both funny and brutally violent. The sequel is being headed up by Bethesda Softworks, makers of the Elder Scrolls series.

Here’s a summary:

Q: Can you kill children?

A: Jesus, no. What’s the matter with you?

Q: Can you kill important plot characters?

A: Not some of them. They go “unconscious” like in Oblivion.

Q: Will the game ship with an editor for modders?

A: It won’t ship with one, but we might come out with one later. We like Oblivion’s mods.

Q: Is Oblivion-style fast travel back?

A: Yep.

Q: Does the quest compass look like Oblivion?

A: Kinda.

Q: Same “Radiant AI” as Oblivion?

A: Yeah.

Q: Is it Oblivion with guns?

A: Now you’re just editorializing.

This is a game I’m going to have to check out either way, just for this.

To even get to downtown DC you’re going to have to go through some metro tunnels.

The D.C. Metro has some awesome stations, and I don’t recall them ever getting used in a game before. The only thing better than seeing familiar locations in a game is seeing bombed-out post-apocalyptic versions of them.
