Star Trek’s Brent Spiner Has a One-Man Show On Twitter

April 24th, 2009 Matthew Boyd 2 comments

We’ve seen plenty of actors using Twitter for promotion or communication with fans. Brent Spiner may be the first one to use it as a minimalist novella.

Novella might be the wrong word for it, but I’m having a hard time coming up with the right one. What do you call a fictional autobiographical account of a washed up actor whose only gigs are Bar Mitzvah appearances as his old character Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation, who is also getting embroiled in some kind of noir-tinged murder mystery, which is told 140 characters at a time?

My Favorite TV Tweeters

March 28th, 2009 Liz N. No comments

New media is a fascinating thing. The internet has rendered publicists and news agencies all but useless now that celebrities can communicate with us directly - through websites, blogs, and, of course, the latest craze - Twitter.

For some celebrities, this will be more harmful than helpful. But for those who are naturally prudent and charming, this can only be a boon - people enjoy seeing the “real” side of celebs. Fakes, and those whose publicists Tweet on their behalf, have been quickly weeded out. People want real celebrity Tweets. They’ll settle for nothing less.

Who is Vin Diesel’s WoW Character?

March 23rd, 2009 Matthew Boyd 4 comments

I’ve always liked watching Vin Diesel talk. Besides having a voice that sounds like it was fed backwards through a wheat harvester, he seems like a guy who’s just totally satisfied to be the person he is.

Vin was on a British talk show last week to promote the new Fast and Furious movie. While he was on, the host brought up World of Warcraft. The video is after the jump.

Natasha Richardson Passes Away

March 19th, 2009 Liz N. No comments

Just on the off-chance you thought the end of 2008 was the end of bizarre, unexpected celebrity deaths, well - you’re wrong. Natasha Richardson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and wife of award-winning actor Liam Neeson, has passed away after falling during a skiing lesson.

Many veteran skiers who’ve never so much as broken a wrist view this whole situation with a certain measure if disbelief. No one wants to believe it’s that easy to die. But as resilient as the human body can be, it’s also extremely fragile - particularly around the head.

What Kind of Celebrity Disher Are You?

January 5th, 2009 Liz N. 2 comments

Let’s be honest for a moment: we all love to read about, watch, and discuss celebrity exploits. Even the most oblivious of us still relish the big scandals, passing spurious judgment on people they’ve never met. It’s fun. We’d be tempted to be intimidated by celebrities if we didn’t spend a lot of time reminding ourselves that they’re just as accident-prone and irresponsible as the rest of us. And for that reason, even if you barely know the names of any of today’s A-listers, you’ve still been a celebrity disher at one time or another. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

But what sort are you? Let’s see…

Celebrity Bloggers: Punch Up Your Site With Widgets!

December 17th, 2008 Liz N. No comments

Celebrity-centric blogs fill a gigantic hole in our society: we are hungry for up-to-the-minute updates about our favorite idols in music, film, television, and sports. It keeps us entertained, makes us feel good about ourselves, and ensures that we have something to discuss over the water cooler or the dinner table. As a celebrity blogger, you couldn’t be in a better business. There’s just one problem: there are too many other blogs vying for your readers’ attention.

As you are no doubt aware, competition is fierce. The only way to get ahead is to offer something that other blogs can’t; given the sheer numbers you’re up against, this can be difficult. With entertainment giants like TMZ always on the front lines, it takes a lot to be the first to break a story. And even if you have a witty, unique voice, you’re probably looking for more ways to keep your users coming back. So what can you do?

Jennifer Hudson’s Brother-in-Law Arrested

December 3rd, 2008 Liz N. No comments

It’s been some time since word first got out of the tragic shooting at the home of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell, which left her and Hudson’s brother Jason dead. The body of Hudson’s nephew Julian was discovered three days later in an SUV, also shot to death. At the time, police suspected the estranged husband of Julian’s mother, Julia. His name is William Balfour and he already had a criminal record - not to mention the fact that he’d had recent disputes with Julia and Jason over a car.

Earlier this week, the police finally arrested Balfour. Read more…

Brad Pitt Seems Unfamiliar With Trespassing Law

December 2nd, 2008 Steve Anderson No comments

There are times when I’d love–LOVE!–to slap a celebrity.

There are usually several REASONS for that kind of teeth-grinding rage, of course, from their sanctimony to their holier-than-thou behavior to why they’re getting paid criminally monstrous sums of money for work they do that can be done by absolutely ANYONE ELSE for much less money. And sometimes, it’s their sheer out-and-out stupidity that makes me long to slap a bitch.

Tina Fey Has a Scar?

December 2nd, 2008 Liz N. No comments

I know I’m not the only one who never really noticed Tina Fey’s scar until someone pointed it out to me. But most people seem to be a little more observant than I was, and speculation has run high about the origin of her scar since she first appeared on Saturday Night Live. As it turns out, the story is somehow more bizarre than I could have imagined. According to recent reports:

The 38-year-old comedienne was attacked by a stranger in a violent slashing incident when she was five.

Britney Spears: Sofa King We Todd Ed

November 29th, 2008 Liz N. 1 comment

At first glance, Britney Spears’ recently leaked single “If U Seek Amy” from the her upcoming album “Circus” might just seem like another awkwardly-titled pop song that no one will care about in six months. The lyrics seem to tell the story of…uh…well, who knows. I can’t really figure it out. See if you can interpret this:

Oh baby baby
Have you seen Amy tonight?
Is she in the bathroom
Is she smokin’ up outside
Oh
