Kwanzoo Company Update: New Challenges, New Opportunities

March 11th, 2009 Mani No comments

Its been a interesting time for us here at Kwanzoo. In early 2008 we were busy building a website for Entertainment Fans to come play trivia games on Kwanzoo.com. We then built out Kwanzoo quiz widgets. We experimented with Kwanzoo Gadgets on iGoogle, Kwanzoo widgets on WidgetBox.

The idea was to give our users an easy way to take our quizzes with them, no matter where they wanted to be, on their personal Blog, their Facebook page, Myspace profile, and so on.

Destination Site or Social Application (on Facebook et all)?

December 4th, 2007 Mani No comments

It’s always interesting to me, to look back at certain points in time in building a startup business, when some very strategic decisions get made very quickly. Once the decision is made, you try to adapt to the changing dynamics of the marketplace. However, excessive change of course without a rational basis for the change will only lead to thrashing and frustration! A better way might be to move along a path, measure, test and refine on a continuous basis.

Light ShiningWe have had some very strategic decision points come upon us this past year. When we got started in the summer of 2006, we started developing Kwanzoo.com as a destination site for playing social trivia games. Earlier this year, Facebook opened up their platform. As we all know, that’s all the rage now. Every week we hear about yet another social application thats been launched on Facebook (and soon, the floodgates of announcements will be upon us of new social applications on MySpace, or Bebo, or Orkut or any other social network).

Is a Second Startup like Watching a Movie the Second Time?

December 2nd, 2007 Mani No comments

Building a startup from the ground up is fun. Its also very consuming! For us here at Kwanzoo, it’s been an interesting journey. It all started in the summer of 2006. Yes, it has been that long! More on that later. It has been many twists and turns along the way. In this new series of articles I hope to share our journey with all our friends, old and new.

Movies Made Here!Kwanzoo is my second startup. Someone once said, a second startup is like watching a movie all over again. You know the plot. You know what’s going to happen next. You can speed through the parts you know well, and focus on what you really enjoyed about the movie. Catch some cool dialog in sharp detail and have a laugh! Catch the little nuances in different scenes, the camera angles, the acting, the background detail. Is a second startup the same way?
