I’ve always liked watching Vin Diesel talk. Besides having a voice that sounds like it was fed backwards through a wheat harvester, he seems like a guy who’s just totally satisfied to be the person he is.
Vin was on a British talk show last week to promote the new Fast and Furious movie. While he was on, the host brought up World of Warcraft. The video is after the jump.
When Gillette introduced a razor specifically for gamers, gamers around the world rolled their eyes and groaned. What on earth do they need special razors for, and why would a tennis player be the guy to pitch them?
Still it’s a strange trend. Unrelated stuff gets targeted at “gamers”, and it somehow winds up being linked to “Xtreme” imagery, as if the average player is chugging energy drinks and skydiving during Bioshock load screens. Penny Arcade occasionally lampoons these offerings when they come up.
Midway is a recognizable name outside of hardcore gaming circles, known as the U.S. distributors as Space Invaders and Pac-Man back in the day.

All right, a brief history of the Resident Evil 5 racism controversy:
Last year, Newsweek writer N’Gai Croal articulated his thoughts on the previews of the game that showed the square-jawed, white Chris Redfield gunning down hordes of howling zombie Africans. Read more…
If you’re into gadgets, take a look at Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry demoing their prototype of a wearable computer. Basically, it uses a camera to take in information about the object you’re looking at and then projects a touch screen on it.
I was shamed into picking up a copy of X-Com: UFO Defense last week. A friend of mine has been submitting trivia to the site, and he was agast, AGAST that I hadn’t played this classic strategy game.
So, how does the 15-year-old X-Com hold up to someone coming to it with fresh eyes?
I’ve been checking out an interesting-looking Wii game lately. It’s called Oboro Murasama, and is being released as “Murasama: The Demon Blade” in North America. There’s no specific date for it yet, but it’s supposed to come out in 2009.
I think its flying under the radar of a lot of people who would be interested in it. As with all games, there’s no telling for sure how good it will be before sitting down with the final version, but if you want to see some impressive screenshots and videos, hit the jump.
2008 was a great year for games games. To round out our trivia library, we just uploaded a batch of questions about some of the biggest hits.
We’ll be featuring the trivia widgets widgets here, some with questions from our writers and some with questions from our community contributors. See how well you do. As always, you can see the full list of new uploads on the news page.
