They’re everywhere - from The Dukes of Hazzard to Bewitched. Before long, every classic T.V. show will make it to the silver screen. It doesn’t even matter if they’re good (obviously), if there’s a nostalgia audience, they will get made. And so comes Get Smart.

Get Smart was a funny show in its time. Steve Carell sounds like good casting, and the teaser trailer looked pretty funny. But now that the full international trailer has been released, fans and critics are slightly less enthusiastic.

Maybe it’s just that we’ve seen so many spy parodies already. Maybe it’s just that we’re jaded. Maybe it’s just that we’re sick of seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the opening credits. But is this movie going to be able to tread ground that Austin Powers and Johnny English and Derek Flint and even James Bond himself haven’t tread before?

As someone who enjoyed Get Smart reruns as a child, I predict: no. Not even the man you can call…ON HIS SHOE!!! could save this one. It’s too precious, it’s too late, it’s too clichéd. Sorry, Max.
