Glenn Beck Coming to Theatres. Shoot Me.
This one’s got me all horrified, and I hate being horrified. It does unpleasant things to my cholesterol level. I got in an email from the good folks at Fathom Events a listing for the upcoming Glenn Beck comedy tour. Dig the relevant portion:
On Thursday, July 17th, Headline News political commentator and talk radio host Glenn Beck will bring his celebrated one-man stage show, “Beck 08,” LIVE in high-definition on the world’s largest cinema broadcast network for the first time ever to select movie theatres nationwide. Known for his no-holds-barred style, Beck says exactly what’s on his mind about the world today; including this political season, during this ground-breaking comedy event LIVE from the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.
Frankly, after what this raging moron did for the gaming population I’m not really that interested in hearing the drivel that comes out of his mouth about anything, especially not about “this political season”. Anyone who watches his show for a couple nights running knows that what’s on his pinprick of a mind can be handily reduced to a lot of bilge about his love for the Republican party in a fashion that would make Ann Coulter vomit and a bunch of half-formed concepts about how Barack Obama is some kind of plant from Moscow. This makes me wish Joe McCarthy were still around so he could roundly bitch-slap Beck because Beck wouldn’t know the Red Menace from his own ass in the dark with both hands, a flashlight and a head start.
But apparently there are plenty of people out there who just love to hear senseless pro-Republican jingoism at its finest because Beck has, despite all logic, the third most popular radio show on the air. Which is, of course, a lot like saying you have the third best sandwich shop in Somalia–it’s not like anyone gives a rat’s left foot what you’re serving up as long as it’s not dirt. To translate my loose analogy, basically, who’s actually listening to the radio any more unless you’re in your car or want music?
But anyway, he’s coming to what will be probably only a handful of theatres so I’m not going to get wildly bent out of shape on this one. Until then, try the thriller movie trivia on Kwanzoo so you don’t fall asleep any time soon.
