I Like Men Now: The Simpsons, On the Big Screen

2007 was a dangerous time to make The Simpsons Movie. Critics and fans alike have been ho-humming the show in recent years, saying that it should be put to bed before it disgraced itself any further. In the midst of this decline, The Simpsons Movie appeared in theatres nationwide.

The SimpsonsNow available on DVD, The Simpsons Movie remains firmly planted at an 88% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it absolutely deserves it.

Whether or not you are a fan of the show, this movie will make you laugh. Unlike in the Family Guy direct-to-video disaster, the Simpsons have no trouble adapting to a feature-length plot. The story begins with Grandpa revealing a mysterious prophecy in church - repeating words like “twisted tail,” “trapped forever,” and “eepa!” Friends and family are at a loss to understand what he meant, until Homer’s biggest faux pas yet causes Springfield to become the most polluted place on earth.

Russ Cargill (Albert Brooks), head of the Environmental Protection Agency, convinces the simple-minded President Schwarzenegger to enclose the citizens of Springfield within a giant dome, which will seal off their pestilence from the rest of the world. “Trapped forever?” Not if the Simpsons can help it. With the help of Maggie, proven again to be one of the cleverest members of the clan, America’s favorite nuclear family will live to eat another day.

If you find yourself trapped like a carrot, alleviate your boredom by playing some The Simpsons Movie trivia.
