I’ll admit it. I haven’t been that excited about GTA IV.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some fancy lad who’s too good for a little simulated larceny.
The GTAs are fun. It’s just that I’ve always played the originals up to the point where I feel like I’m fighting the game’s controls instead of playing it. In GTA3 it was the shootout by the dam, in Vice City it was a race against a potential bank robbing cohort. San Andreas wore me down slowly with its stat grinding and mandatory eating.
So while many others can’t wait to get their mitts on it (including a couple of UPS employees, apparently) it’s been firmly in the “I’ll play it when I get to it” category for me.
Until this week.
You see, I found out this week that one of the DJs in GTA IV is Karl Lagerfeld.
Karl Lagerfeld is the head of Chanel. Yes, that Chanel.
This is the cover of Karl Lagerfeld’s real-life CD.

Apparently that’s how he usually dresses.
You win, Rockstar. Any game that does something so outlandishly weird as to include a 74-year-old fashionista as a radio host has to have something going for it.
