It’s Arrested Development. Movie!

Somewhere, a Fox executive is shaking his head and saying he made a huge mistake.Okay…I want everybody to just calm down right now! I’m calm! See? Look at me and tell me I’m calm! I’M CALM!! Relax. Get a hold of yourself, man. This is actually going to be pretty cool, especially when I tell you what’s going on. I’m terribly fond of the too-good-for-it’s-own-good Fox series Arrested Development—and when I read that there might well be a feature-length movie released about it?

Well, that just made my night.

Commence Geekgasming!

There’s no real word as to what said movie will contain or actually be about or anything like that, but if the show is any indication, there will be lots of mistaken identity and George Senior frequently skipping town and replacing himself with Oscar. Job will act like an idiot, but so will Tobias and Buster and Lucille. Michael will probably have to clean up whatever mess ensues but that’s par for the course.

And really, would we have it any other way?

Just The Existence of It Makes Me Cheery

The Arrested Development cast has had plenty of side appearances in plenty of recent hits that make the geeks happy: Michael Cera’s time in Superbad and Juno, Jason Bateman’s out-of-nowhere appearances in Smokin’ Aces and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, even Wil Arnett in Blades of Glory was a real showstopper.

The thought that, soon, we may well have a new bit of Arrested Development joy to peruse fills me with a rampant glee. This was a show killed too soon, frankly, by the capricious and ill-informed forces of Executive Meddling and despite the less than hundred episodes comprising it it will be remembered fondly.

At least, by me. And chances are by you too.
