Perhaps one of the strangest movie based newsie bits I got hold of this week was the knowledge that Jon Heder - the single most annoying part of huge annoying movie Napoleon Dynamite - was taking his production studio in a new and different direction.

Napoleon Dynamite Wasn’t Scary Enough?

That’s right, kids… Jon Heder and production company are venturing into the horror movie game, and that’s got me downright bemused.

Call me an eternal optimist, but man… Jon Heder might well be a good thing for horror. Horror’s been kind of stagnant these days - at least on average. I’m not knocking the killer work of horror indies who are going in new and valiant directions, but let’s be honest: remakes and sequels are winning the day these days, especially as far as the multiplex goes. The industry definitely needs some new blood and some new ideas, and Heder got his start in indie film. Some indie sensibilities could be valuable, so I’m willing to give huge annoying Heder the benefit of the doubt.

I’m Watching You, Heder. You’re On Notice.

But then, I remember Benchwarmers and scowl menacingly. This could be great…but then again, this could be more of the same.

I sincerely doubt, however, that Heder’s work could be much worse.

You won’t need the benefit of the doubt to enjoy Napoleon Dynamite questions on Kwanzoo, though. So go and enjoy!
