I’m not a huge fan of kischy video game songs and videos, except when I am.

This one, however, deserves a listen. The song is Thank You Mario But Our Princess Is In Another Castle. It’s an ode to Toad, basically. The poor guy only has one job in Super Mario Bros. He waits behind the boss in a dark castle until you come to rescue him, he tells you the princess is in another castle, and that’s it. But does anyone ever think about how he got there?

It’s much quieter than you’d expect.

The song sounded familiar to me, so I checked my playlist for “The Mountain Goats.” Apparently their single “New Chevrolet In Flames” somehow made its way onto my playlist about a year ago, so that explains that.

As long as we’re on the subject, here’s a few more kischy things I like.

Here’s a Persona Caramelldansen, though unless you’re familiar with the original Caramelldansen meme, you’re probably going to be pretty lost.
