Not that I care all that much about Clive Barker movies–some of the most patently confusing gratuitous bloodfeasts on the face of the earth–but what Lions Gate is doing to Midnight Meat Train is simply beyond the pale.

The word from Bloody-DIsgusting goes a little something like this:

“They’re dumping it at mostly dollar theaters (the second run theaters, so it’ll make even LESS money),” writes B-D reader Brian W. (one of a handful who wrote in). “It’s playing at a Dollar Theater in Norwalk and Oklahoma and Idaho. Check MovieTickets.com if you don’t believe me.

And wow…what an array of theatres no one’s ever heard of.  I can’t imagine why Lions Gate, whose theatrical arm has been losing money since sometime last year–even just talked about it here but a few days ago–is taking a horror flick, pretty much its bread and butter, and virtually guaranteeing it’ll fail.

Worse yet, the number of horror movies in general coming out of LIons Gate is beginning to fall off.  It makes no sense at all–horror movies have done nothing but good for Lions Gate.  Lions Gate’s flagship title for the last three years has been a horror movie!
