Movie Trivia: Adam Sandler Starts Horror Studio.
Meanwhile, my lunch starts its upward crawl back up my throat.
I truly can’t believe that I actually have to write this–I’m forcing my fingers to type while the world around me takes on a reddish haze of rage and disbelief as I fill you in on this. Happy Madison, Adam Sandler’s comedy studio responsible for some of the biggest tragedies in cinematic history, now has a new subsidiary: Scary Madison. Scary Madison’s first film is a title called Shortcut, in which two brothers take a seldom-used shortcut near their town only to discover that it’s seldom-used for a reason.
Which of course is absolutely nothing new–apparently Scary Madison plans to be as dull and derivative as Happy Madison, which wouldn’t be bad if the idiot weren’t wandering around in MY stomping grounds. Does Adam Sandler have to ruin EVERYTHING? Seriously–does he? He destroyed comedy with Billy Madison, ruined the drama with Mr. Deeds, holiday movies with Eight Crazy Nights, and now he’s bungling horror even more so than previously thought possible from his horror-comedy Little Nicky.
Is this just some kind of mission on his part? Does he wake up every morning and consult a list, at the top of which is written “Things I Absolutely Must Piss On So No One Else Can Enjoy Them Again Ever?” What’s next on this monster’s list–science fiction? Of course, there’s a possibility that the Broken Clock Theory could kick in, and Sandler might well actually find his oeuvre in horror, but I’m not holding my breath. After all, the Broken Clock Theory is really hard to execute when the clock in question is missing both hands.
Now that I’ve had my scary–and unpleasantly scary at that–moment for the evening, why don’t we all calm down and go play some horror movie trivia on Kwanzoo, just so we can remember what GOOD horror movies are?

Adam Sandler is classic, though he tends to do his best work when he stays casual, not trying too hard to be funny or deep, etc.
I’m willing to believe that if he can keep the mugging to a minimum maybe he can pull it off. Though I find myself still concerned.
