Well that’s a morbid headline if ever I wrote one, eh, kiddies?  Well, there’s a good reason.  Anyone else familiar with a stinkbomb called “Jeepers Creepers 2″?  Oh yeah, that one.  You know, the one with the constant phallic imagery, the Bannon Fighting Cocks, and of course, the roadside freak show ending?  Yeah, you remember that one. You probably wish you hadn’t but you remember it, don’t you?

Well, here’s a double-tall shot of bad news for you–there’s gonna be a third one.

Although there isn’t much to tell you, Ray Wise updated the status of Victor Salva’s Jeepers Creepers 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us to Fangoria Radio. “We had a table reading last week… The script of JEEPERS CREEPERS III takes the better aspects of the first two and puts them together. It’s gonna be incredible.” In the sequel, which MGM has set for release in 2009, Wise will reprise his role as Jack Taggart Sr. A fourth film is also said to be shooting back-to-back.

So, wait…the plan is to take the best aspects of a fairly decent movie and a complete pile of lukewarm suck and put them together?  That’s like saying you’re going to make a supercar out of parts of a Ford  Escort and a hay wagon.  Oh, sure, don’t get me wrong–I like Ray Wise as much as the next guy but does that mean there should be a Jeepers Creepers 3?  After sitting through the godawful slop that was Jeepers Creepers 2, I’m not so sure.  Granted, I don’t think it can be MUCH worse unless theatre employees start walking through the aisles randomly poking you in the ass with a pitchfork or maybe removing the seats and shutting off the air conditioner before showtime, but much like my parents having sex it’s still not something I’d want to walk in on.

Thankfully, though, there’s at least a fair chance that this horrible, horrible idea will be going direct to video before anyone notices the stink.  Despite Victor Salva’s endless begging, MGM doesn’t seem to be terribly interested in a theatrical release at last count.
