For those of you who fondly remember the Muppet movies from your childhood, this news will be welcome. Yes, yes, that’s right - we’re in for one more.

Writer Jason Segel, frequent collaborator with hit comedy director Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Superbad), will pen this latest Muppet adventure. Nick Stoller will direct.

So how did Segel land this gig? His role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall originally connected him with the Henson puppeteers, who designed the puppets for the “Dracula” musical that Segel’s character writes in the film. He says it gave him the courage to approach the company with his ideas, and now it’s all paying off.

The first three Muppet movies performed well at the box office, but once the ’80s began melting into the ’90s, the Muppet phenomenon was on its way out. Both Segel and the Henson execs are hoping that this new project will breathe life back into the franchise.
