Movie Trivia: Gunnar Hanson’s Career Goes Even Further to the Dogs.
Now, here’s an interesting tidbit for you—Gunnar Hanson, one of the great legends of the horror film industry who played Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is in fact NOT going to be showing up in the upcoming film Dog. However, he WILL be showing up in “Whale Watching Massacre”, so you may want to keep an eye out for that.
And I’m kind of laughing at the guy—of all the legends of horror, Gunnar Hanson seems to be having the roughest time of things. Granted, Kane Hodder’s career isn’t exactly a blaze of glory, but even HE got a fairly decent part in Hatchet. And neither of them can hold a candle to Robert Englund, who not only acts but also directs with equal aplomb and efficiency. Hanson, meanwhile, seems to be showing up only in the lousiest direct-to-video sludge imaginable, and some stuff that hasn’t even made it off the festival circuit.
Want to know how bad it’s getting for Gunnar? Check out the synopsis for Dog—basically, it’s two inbred psycho brothers who own a salvage yard in the woods somewhere in the Midwest who use their third brother as a guard dog. In preparing him for this, they took the result of massive inbreeding and abused and brutalized him for years. Anyone who enters the salvage yard at night is not surprisingly killed.
Basically it’s like Wrong Turn with even fewer redeeming qualities. Excuse me while I yawn.
