Movie Trivia: New “Dark Knight” Trailer. WOOOO!

Happy news for Batman fans - this past Sunday, the new, un-jokerized trailer finally debuted in all its massive glory. You can go to the splash page revealed by other dedicated fans to watch and download the trailer in three different sizes.

The trailer indicates more of the trademark humor of Batman Begins, and specifically highlights the character of Harvey Dent. This may be a result of Heath Ledger’s untimely passing; while Two-Face is a popular villain, he is not as beloved or as recognizable as The Joker.

It also seems to indicate that Two-Face, rather than being burned with acid as most origin stories state, will be burned with actual fire to create his unique appearance. From this small peek, it looks as if director Christopher Nolan has tried his best to weave a serious drama out of the largely ridiculous tapestry that is Batman. Tommy Lee Jones’ famous performance as Two-Face in Batman Forever made him a largely comic figure, while it seems Aaron Eckhart is taking the role back to its darker origins.

(Poor Billy Dee Williams. He took the role of Harvey Dent in Batman, specifically so he’d be called back for a sequel, then got passed over in favor of Tommy Lee. Joel Schumacher even paid him a fee to extricate himself from the contract. Nothing says “I’d rather pay you for doing nothing than have you in my movie” quite like that.)

What do you, the viewers at home, think? Does this make you even more excited for The Dark Knight? Are you disappointed at the lack of acid disfigurement? Are you suddenly, inexplicably terrified of clowns?
