NFC: State of the Union

Well it’s official, all NFC teams from the North, South and West are inferior to the Eastern teams.

The beasts are in the east.

East: The Giants, that team that won the Super Bowl last year, are the only undefeated team in the conference. The Redskins and the Cowboys are tied, unless you factor in the Skins win Sunday over the ‘Boys. The Eagles (2-2) don’t have the look of a last place team, yet.

North: Packers and Bears are tied for first with 2-2 records. The Pack might fall back if Mr. Favre’s replacement is hurt after Sundays game. The Vikings just can’t seem to get things going, and the Lions don’t look like they’ll ever win.

South: Carolina and Tampa Bay are the co-leaders at 3-1. They face off in two weeks, but the Panthers (vs. Kansas city) have the easier route to the game. The Saints are trailing right behind the leaders, but should be on an equal playing field. The Falcons are hanging in there with a surprising 2-2 record.

West: Last, but certainly least, we have the most uninteresting, co-most most losing division (along with the North) in the NFL. The Cardinals’ passing assault, led by Warner, and the 49ers’ Frank Gore arsenal, are off to a poor 2-2 start, which is good enough for first place in this cohort. The Seahawks got a much needed bye after starting 1-2, and should improve somewhat off their dismal efforts. The Rams are 0-4, to no surprise, and have the greatest negative ratio of points for and points against, having been outscored by an average 26 points per game.
