Positivity! Warning Forever

Like I said in my last post, I wanted something positive to write for this update. I stacked the deck in my favor by checking out a game that is widely considered as kickass.

That game is called Warning Forever, and it lives up to its reputation.

The game is named after the “Warning!” alerts that commonly appear in the shmup genre when a boss appears, and in this game, there’s always a boss appearing. There’s absolutely nothing else to the game. It’s just boss after boss after boss.

But here’s the neat part: Each new boss is adapted to the tactics you’ve been using on the previous ones.

If you wipe the front of the boss clean before destroying the core, it’ll come back next time with better frontal armor. Kill the back, and it starts growing parts back there. By level 10, it will have adapted into a new form that it will then grow from. If it destroys one of your ships, expect the next one to be covered in the type of weapon that took you out.

The graphics aren’t much, but they’re clean and simple and they get the job done. The job here, like all manic shooters, is throwing hundreds of bullets up on the screen. And let me tell you, once you hit a certain stage of development, you’re going to be dodging like a madman.

It’s a simple game, admittedly, and there isn’t that much to it. But it’s fun and it’s free and it’s awesome, so if you download it and enjoy yourself for half an hour, I figure you’ve come out ahead.
