Poultrygeist–Finger Lickin’ Crazy
I’ve given up trying to figure out Troma, kids…they’ve made a career spanning decades about Kabuki crime-fighters and janitors turned into radioactive, drippy superheroes. So it really doesn’t surprise me much to find that they’ve turned their attention to undead chickens.
It’s called Poultrygeist, and it was something of a cause celebre in the indie horror community. Lloyd Kaufman himself ran several personal appeals to help get the word out about this tiny little film about horrible chickens.
The plot, meanwhile, is a wonder of Tromatic engineering—the American Tromahawk Indian Burial Ground has recently been bulldozed so that an American Chicken Bunker restaurant can be installed in its place. This, naturally, will not sit well with the various unquiet spirits on premises, and thus, they’ll haunt holy hell out of the place, and it’s up to a handful of fast-food misfits to save the world from the undead chickens.
So, seriously, get out and see Poultrygeist. If you’re in New York or Los Angeles, you even have a chance to see it in theaters! I know, I’m amazed too! But for the rest of us, video release cannot be far behind, and to help with the wait, try the indie movie trivia on Kwanzoo.
