I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time wrapping my head around this.
Seriously…I mean, I’ve seen out and out lunacy before and it really doesn’t faze me. So why am I having such a hard time understand what kind of daffy bastard could release something like War Monkeys? Read more…

December 9th is going to be a HUGE day in the video stores and in the various electronics stores and sections thereof, folks, because that’s the day that two major titles come out on DVD.
Namely, Wall-E and The Dark Knight.

It seems I’ve got some reason to start training my eyes over across the pond as our English brethren seem to be having some fairly sizable censorship difficulties.
In fact, it’s starting to resemble comic book / Wachowski brothers epic V For Vendetta over there, and some of the similarities are getting so creepy I’m starting to wonder when the US gets whatever disaster it had coming to it in the series (I could never tell) because it definitely looks like The Ear is getting put into place when stuff like this happens: Read more…

Well, it’s official, sort of–if there is to be a 28 Months Later, and if the studio allows it, Danny Boyle is ready to direct it.

Man, it’s not every day that I get to do a spit-take all over my computer desk (you have no idea how hard it is to get Dew out of Office Depot fiberboard), and this was one of those days.
I just read about how Clint Eastwood was, very possibly, going to wind up directing the upcoming thriller movie Hereafter and I just about completely lost it.

So it’s not every day that an actual PR folk comes at me over something I say around here.
You remember when I gave Lycos static for not being, you know, relevant? Just because it’s so far back in the search engine ratings that they’re not even listed on Nielsen Netratings and looking at a graph on Alexa comparing their traffic to Yahoo and Google’s is just downright embarrassing?

I just now realized that the acronym for Passing On Popcorn would be, in fact, POP. You’ve got to love secret irony.
Anyway, it’s a little bit obvious when you think about it, and it’s probably not much of a surprise to note that ticket sales for movies seem to be holding steady or going up slightly, but concession sales are down across the board.

Okay, brace yourselves on this one, because it might be even weirder than that whole “Not Another Not Another Movie” thing I just talked about.
Apparently, there’s a city in Turkey that’s been having a rough time of things since the movie The Dark Knight was released. The name of the city?

Some disturbing news comes my way today as I piece together the results of apparently growing tensions between life-destroying Scientology-bashing enturbulationists Anonymous and a group calling itself the Tokio Army.
Apparently, back on Friday, the MTV Europe Music Awards took place (did anyone even KNOW there was an MTV Europe? I had no clue!), and squaring off for the title of Best Act Ever was Internet meme sensation (and Anonymous’ clear favorite) Rick Astley. You might be wondering what a pretty much one-hit-wonder from the eighties was doing showing his face at an MTV event circa thirty years later, but such is the power of the internet, and in a roundabout fashion of Anonymous, that the “Rickrolling” phenomenon in which users are tricked into clicking a link or watching a video only to have it cut away to Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” video managed to vault him into newfound prominence.

Seriously, if you’ve got any interest at all in a big-screen plasma TV, the time is ripe.
The horrific economy is dragging retail sales figures into a slump, and as such, the vendors are ready to make a deal. It’s a buyer’s market, and even these days, there are some buyers ready to go. Read more…
