The Frat Pack: Frank Sinatra Is Spinning in His Grave.
They call them the “Frat Pack”–a clear and well-reasoned spin on Frank Sinatra’s “Rat Pack”–and they’re the loose coterie of actors and friends that regularly show up in each others’ movies. They include comic icons-in-the-making like Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, the Wilson brothers Owen and Luke, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn and Jack Black.
Though they were dubbed the “Frat Pack” by USA Today following Ferrell’s “Old School” performance in the movie of the same name, originally they were referred to as the “Slacker Pack” on the pages of Entertainment Weekly. Which was sort of a misnomer–within the space of one year, they had six movies between them. Going back even as far as 1996 to Stiller, Black and Wilson’s run in “The Cable Guy”, this slightly-less-than-magnificent six managed to appear in just shy of twenty movies together. Not just any movies, either, but relatively big pictures like Meet the Parents and Starsky and Hutch.
