For many, the first glimpse of Tony Soprano leaning back in Dr. Jennifer Melfi’s office was the beginning of a years-long love affair with one of HBO’s most popular original series. Real-life fans of The Sopranos include mafia, FBI agents, and viewers like you - very few people can find something bad to say about it.

Show creator David Chase, who had previously worked on shows like The Rockford Files and Northern Exposure, finally gained notoriety as the brains behind this hit series. An Italian-American like his most famous characters, Chase (né DeCesare) suffered under the yolk of oppressive parents; his “drama queen” of a mother would later serve as the main inspiration for the character of Livia Soprano.

The Venture Brothers is the best show on television and anyone who disagrees is a LIAR. You heard it from me.

And now we have a teaser trailer for season 3, which features the long-awaited return of hydrocephalic Master Billy Quizboy and his albino companion Pete White. Pete and Billy were reportedly forced into a premature retirement in season 2 because Adult Swim didn’t think they were funny. Fie on them.

Apparently we also get to see more of Brock’s early days in the Office of Secret Intelligence, complete with brutal G.I. Joe-esque theme song sequence.

Mystery Science Theater 3000, or MST3K as it’s often know (for obvious reasons), is one of those shows that people claim they’ve never seen until you describe it. And you can hardly blame them - if it was called Shadows in a Theater, or Puppets Making Fun of Movies, they might remember it better.

The premise of the show is secondary to what it provides: hilarious comments on some of the worst Hollywood has to offer. It has brought overlooked failures like Manos: The Hands of Fate into popular culture, and served to remind all of us that there’s no reason movies need to be sacred.

Remember the WGA strike? That tiny blip that disrupted all your favorite T.V. shows, which explains why all their seasons are ending this spring? (I’m talking to you, Office.) Yeah, that one.

If you will recall, the Screen Actor’s Guild was particular vocal in their support of the WGA. That’s because their contract, which will expire this June, also had not been updated for DVD sales and so-called “new media” (internet downloads, et cetera). They are currently in negotiations with the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Sound familiar?

On February 17th, the face of television will change forever.

Well, not really.

Since the advent of T.V., most of us have been getting old-fashioned analogue signals - and we were happy with it. But not anymore. Since the mid-90s, T.V. stations around the U.S. have been preparing for the great digital switchover. It is, undoubtedly, a superior method of broadcast. It’s clearer, higher quality, more efficient, and allows for HDTV broadcasts. One problem: it’s not compatable with a lot of T.V. sets.
